the Dark Sound of Norway

Sogndalsbroen

Here is a few band that I feel capture the diverse and rich sound of Norway. It's agressiv, dark, brutal, raw, it's rock n' roll, or as some say, metal.

Aura Noir - Hades Rise
A great record, which gives you the real feeling of true old school metal. Brutal energy from start to finish. You should also check out their older releases.

Released 2008

Track
1. Hades Rise
2. Gaping Grave Awaits
3. Unleash the Demon
4. Pestilent Streams
5. Schitzoid Paranoid
6. Death-Mask
7. Shadows of Death
8. Iron Night/Torment Storm
9. South American Death
10. The Stalker

Darkthrone - Sardonic Wrath
I really think this album is way underrated. Maybe it's because this record embraces those who like metal and punk, and not those who only like A Blaze in the Northern Sky and Under a Funeral Moon aka. purist. Both those records are great, especially A Blaze in the Northern Sky which is fucking excellent. But every track on Sardonic Wrath manage to give me an energy boost.

7. Sacrificing to the God of Doubt
8. Hate Is the Law

Gjenferdsel - Varde
I don't think this band is very wellknown, but I can be wrong. It has some really killer tracks, but it can get a little repetitive. But it's worth checking out.

5. Strid
6. Desember
7. Regin

Gorgoroth - Pentagram
Although I'm not a Gorgoroth fan, I really like this album. Almost every song hits you in the face like a runaway train.

Immortal - Pure Holocaust
What a fucking classic. This is raw rock n' roll. It makes your mind wander to a cold and snowy valley, where you are alone and abandon.

Nattefrost - Blood & Vomit
It hits you in the face like a sledge hammer, and even though it hurts like fuck, you can't help but like it. I think this is a very sucessfull side-prosject from the frontman of Carpathian Forest. It's perverted, but who really take black metal literally?

6. Hordaland Doedskvad Part VI
7. Hordaland Doedskvad Part VII

Vreid - I Krig
Since the picture I've taken, as shown above, is from Sogndal, I thought I should pay some homage to Sogndal. Some might ask why the hell I'm not putting Windir up there, but personally I like I Krig by Vreid the most.
